It is very tedious and bad organized. Redeemed book disappear and it is pretty impossible to have explanation. Awful system

Finally! I can listen to my books. Great job.
I have tried other ebook apps before but this one is the worst. Except for the clean layout, the functions this app provides are too limited. It forces users to navigate and take notes in a certain way. There are not many options to customize how a user can read or edit the book. I am only use the app because the professor for my econ class put the "required" textbook which is written by him on vital source marketplace.
Charged me $86 and then told me it could not give me the book. Told me to call and ask for refund. Have called multiple times, was on hold for ten min then sent to vmail. The same happened with the live chat - held for ten min then sent to leave a ticket request. They are scammers.
Seriously, this reader app doesnt even allow me to select page and once again, this is a reader app for cry out loud; this apps Windows version allow you to search things but it can never direct you to this position. Seriously, how come any human being developed such horrible app. You can just develop a reader app better than this one by one afternoon and you dont even need any programming experiences to do so. I only use this app because one of my textbook can only be used on this app; but seriously, show some decency of humans civilization, such horrible app is disgraceful toward humans intelligence.
I guess most of the bad reviews are out dated? I havent had a single problem yet. I bought my books and point course codes from my schools library. It took me a little while to navigate the website but when it notified me that I could download my textbooks on my mobile I tried it out. This app lets me download my books so I can read offline when Im away from home or use it as a study companion. It even has an audio feature and the app will read the book to me, although I prefer to use Alex on iPhone with most text reading. There is a small learning curve, but I was up and running in 15 min. I dont ever recommend using digital only textbooks because things do happen and problems can occur, just like anything electronic. Its a great resource and allows me to freshen up between study sessions at any time. I love it.
I purchased three book none will show in the app and only one on the website this app is not very good the support and suggestions on how to fix problems are limited so I would just keep scrolling and not even fool with this dumb app if I were you.
I really like this app and I love how you can take notes and make highlights. One thing I would like is for a nighttime mode. Maybe some other reader-friendly additions. And another thing is the automated reading. On my laptop, I can have the program read the text to me. Im horrible at concentrating when reading alone and this helps me, but I dont get that luxury on the go. This would be an awesome addition. The nighttime mode too since, as a college student, I read at night a LOT. Thanks!
I am a college student. I recently started using this. The navigation is great and the ability to take notes and highlight certain things really helps when it comes to studying. I would recommend this app for on-the-go reference during class!
Ordered ebook and did not receive it. But of course they took my $76. I have called everyday for the last 3 days 15-20 times and remain on hold for 5-10 minutes and get transferred to voicemail. These people are scammers! PLEASE DO NOT GET YOUR EBOOKS HERE.
This app does not work in split screen, which makes taking notes difficult if using Notability or another app. In addition, when clicking to enlarge figures, the screen DARKENS, essentially obscuring whatever it was you wanted to see better. And while notes may be typed in, they can only be viewed in a separate screen and not handwritten as on a PDF. All this plus the fact that pages can only be printed 2 at a time makes this app cumbersome and time-consuming to use. With all the readings were constantly assigned, there is no way to make and organize all ones notes in a compact USABLE manner. If I wasnt obligated by my school to use Bookshelf, I would prefer using a real book.
I just love this app. Especially useful are the search and read aloud functions.
This app Pretty bad why doesnt it not let you get anything, somebody please tell me
Seriously, it takes EFFORT to make an app this terrible. No matter what page I put in the search bar, it takes me to 41. No matter what page Im on, it says Im on 41. Did you even check to see if this thing works?
It would be great to have 0.75 speed of speech. Normal is too fast & 0.5 is too slow.
I hate this app. I wish that I could import my textbook into another reader. The only annotations you can make are to highlight and record notes. I find it inexcusable that the app does not include underlining and freehand note abilities. In addition, the app allows you to use different color highlighters (which is nice), but does not provide a sorting system in order to look at notes of just one color/category. In addition, there is no night-reading function. I find this app to be poorly designed and not up to industry standards. I have written to my University bookstore to stop selling textbooks from this ebook provider. Any book from this app is not worth the money. Buy from the publisher, Kindle, or a hard copy. I will not buy from VitalSource again unless major improvements are made to this app.
Its hard to highlight sentences accurately. Often times the whole paragraph gets highlighted and when I try to delete the highlight, the entire text gets deleted. Unfortunately the textbook I need is only available on bookshelf. What a rip off!
For some reason, after logging in, it shows nothing in my library. Im better off using Safari on my iPhone to access my ebooks.
Yes, you get the text, but the highlighting functions as well as all other note taking possibilities are very minimal. Its like they stopped updating the program and fired all the creatives. I can understand their desire to not allow exporting: however, if you product is ten years behind the competition, you should outsource, update, or close your doors.
Adding functions like split screen would be a good start. Term search (at least for the book that I have) only searches for exact matches. For example, if the book doesnt contain the word "spine" but contains "spines" it wont give a result if I search for "spine"; thats kind of annoying. I dont know if its just my iPad Pro but it the app doesnt like to respond to commands very well like tapping the screen to get to the search option to show; instead I have to tap multiple times. Maybe try to look at any other application (even iBooks) and improve this app because the only thing keeping me from deleting this app and account is the fact that the textbook that I need for class is only available on this pretty bad platform. Even the online version seeems to be buggy. All the pictures and images in my textbook dont show up there (no matter how many times I refresh) but show up on my iPad. I guess thats another good thing.
